Thanks for all the yoga!... Little things
A series of contemplations around the nature and practice of gratitude
My contemplations around gratitude as I prepare for a very special event for The Ectopic Pregnancy Trust and offer my thanks to everyone who’s supported me on and off the mat over the last few years.
One thing my yoga practice has taught me – amongst all the others – is to appreciate the little things. Yes, that may mean I giggle at the *odd* childish joke or get the giggles on occasion.
It doesn’t mean that I never call some one out who’s upset me or get peeved by things that happen. It just means that by looking around and noticing all of those little things, which we have to be grateful it brings everything else into perspective. It’s easy to start comparing ourselves to others, what they have and what we don’t. There’ll always be someone better and worse off than you, the only thing that really matters is that you’re respectful of that but don’t let it rule you.
The other huge benefit in this is that it’s a practice in staying present. You can’t be worrying about the past or the future when you’re enjoying the autumn wind or taking an hour out to practice yoga. When you’re present with what you’re doing in this moment life is way simpler and less hurried.
